There a couple of models for mentoring – loosely contrasted as mentoring or coaching, although these do overlap. Mentoring is relationship oriented, which seeks to provide a safe environment where the mentoree shares whatever issues affect his or her professional and personal success. Coaching is task oriented, where the focus is on concrete issues, such as managing more effectively or learning how to think strategically.
We can provide mentoring in various formats: ‘meeting’ regularly by video conference call or by phone; regular site visits, or on an ad hoc basis. You will need to decide what frequency works best for you. Initially, we would suggest meeting weekly for about an hour or so. These session can be outside of normal working hours if that would be of help, say 5 or 6pm. We keep all information shared in sessions confidential.
“Once you receive positive feedback of this nature, I believe it makes you recognise the strengths and push even harder.”
“It was such a benefit to stop for a short time, step back from the job and look at how I was working. This is something I am familiar with on a personal leadership basis, but it was enlightening to do it with the specific programme/project management performance in mind.”
“Feedback from my peers, manager, customers and self was a remarkably tight spread. This has helped me recognise that I am very visible and consistent with all audiences. They trust me and this certainly gives me confidence to continue in the same direction.”
