How do the approaches differ? Samples practices across a portfolio, department or organisation to produce a P3M3 rating. Uniquely measures the management practices of an individual portfolio, programme or project (ie an initiative) to produce both Onemind and P3M3 ratings.

What is assessed? Measures seven P3M3 process perspectives.
P3M3 excludes change management, process performance and performance management. No measure of degree of difficulty.
Assesses eight Onemind Categories, 26 Management Practices and seven P3M3 process perspectives.
Includes an assessment of the psychology of organisational change, process management, performance management and degree of difficulty facing the initiative.
How do the models differ? Uses a maturity model which lists, but does not connect, attributes of management activities. Uses an improvement model that integrates the disciplines and behaviours underpinning consistent successful organisational change.
How does it impact on staff time? Requires travel to and attendance at approx one hour interview. Approximately 45 minutes to complete online.
How are different perspectives categorized? Records no distinction between different roles of interviewees. 360 view of an individual initiative from differing perspective of observers from three critical groups: corporate, initiative and customers.
How objective are assessments? Depends upon subjective judgement of management consultant, where accuracy is dependent on skill and experience. Observers respond to precise and searching questions on a specific initiative.
Results are produced automatically.
How cost-effective are they? Consultancy rates have to cover preparation, interviews, examining evidence, analysis and report writing. A low unit cost per report with a department assessment costing from a third to a quarter of a consultancy-led assessment.
