Categories: Management practice courses, Initiative design courses, Planning courses, Onemind foundation courses
Management practice courses
This one-day course will enable participants to develop their skills in the discipline of Portfolio Management. They will have a clearer understanding of the importance of the role played by senior management and how to integrate Portfolio Management into the organisation. Participants will leave the course knowing how their organisation can ensure that those initiatives that are likely to succeed are identified, prioritized and invested in and those which will not meet strategic objectives are either reconfigured or stopped.
This practical three-day course will enable participants to recognize the characteristics and behaviours of a true leader, regardless of their position within the organisation's hierarchy. There will be opportunities to practise leadership behaviours during the course. Participants will also benefit from valid and reliable feedback about their current leadership practice and recommendations for future personal development.
This comprehensive and intensive three-day course will enable participants to apply the Soft Systems Methodology to problem solving and priority setting within their organisation. SSM provides the principles and methodology that solve the messy 'real-world' problems faced by organisations while actively engaging stakeholders in the analysis and conclusions. Participants will leave the course with a useful set of tools that can be readily adapted to address any problem situation facing their organisation.
This practical one-day course will enable participants to understand and resolve the communications issues faced by their projects and programmes. Participants will complete a straightforward, confidential and accessible self-assessment tool that reveals their own thinking, communication and problem solving preferences. From an understanding of their own preferences, participants will have a greater appreciation of the differing preferences of others, and how to adapt their communication style accordingly.
P3M3® Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model
A one-day course that explains the UK Cabinet Office’s Portfolio, Programme and Project Management Maturity Model (P3M3). Participants will leave with an understanding of the P3M3 sub-models; the process perspectives; the maturity levels, and the specific and generic attributes. They will appreciate the difference between the P3M3 model and other maturity modules, different methods of conducting a management maturity assessment, and the elements of a management improvement plan.
Initiative design courses
Programme and Project Initiation and Closure
This practical two-day course will enable participants to carry out the activities necessary for defining the governance structure, business scope, products to be made, stakeholder engagement strategy, and reporting arrangements for a programme or project. They will also be able to identify those activities that ensure a safe and effective handover of the programme’s or project’s products to the service areas. Participants will have a clearer understanding of the importance of considering closure at the initiation stage.
Engaging Stakeholders
This one-day practical course will enable participants to have a clearer understanding of the pros and cons of different models of engaging stakeholders. Participants will be introduced to an innovative stakeholder engagement structure, and its associated processes, that can be readily integrated into both the governance arrangements of the programme or project, and the management portfolio within which it sits.
This practical and intensive four-day course will enable participants to redesign business processes by combining two state-of-the-art approaches: Business Process Modelling Notation and Soft Systems Methodology. Participants will learn how to design a process study, use an effective and practical process-architecture, and how to build a process simulation.
Planning courses
Using Enterprise Project Management Tools
This practical one-day course will equip participants with the knowledge to plan, carry out the market analysis and the evaluation and selection of the corporate planning toolset to cover portfolio, programme and project management and workflow support. Participants will learn how to conduct a paced evaluation, engage the PPM community in selecting a preferred vendor, and how to collate requirements including planning, workflow, architecture, interfaces, hosting, and support. The course will also make recommendations on how best to manage the commissioning and configuration stages of the implementation.
Competent and Mature Planning and Reporting
This practical one-day course will demonstrate how developing a competent plan forms the foundation of Level 3 PPM Maturity. Participants will be enabled to identify the benefits of competent planning and how to ensure competent plans are in place. Participants will be able to describe the products, plan components, roles and responsibilities necessary to establishing, and subsequently maintaining, competent plans. Participants will recognize how competent plans are a requirement for trend reporting and appreciate the virtues of a milestone-trend reporting-dashboard that fully reveals the real status of the project or programme.
